I received my 1860 Naval Cutlass yesterday and I was thrilled with the quality. It exceeded all my expectations and it will have a place of honor when displayed with my other Navy memorabilia. When I entered the U.S. Navy in 1961, recruit seaman were still being trained in the parade carry and military courtesies of the sword. In parade I carried a beat up naval cutlass, very close in size and form to this 1860 model, but I believe it was entirely carbon steel including hand guard. Thank you so much. I trust we will do business again as I am an avid collector of marine navigation instruments and other naval lore.
